Money on I Dare You sits in an onchain escrow that follows fixed rules. We never hold your funds: contributions, refunds, and payouts move by the contract, not by us. Dispute resolution is handled by the platform today, with an onchain timeout that returns disputed funds if we fail to act in time.

Non-custodial by design

When you back a dare, your USDG goes into an escrow contract onchain, not into a company bank account. We cannot spend it, move it early, or redirect it. It can only ever go where the rules allow: to the creator on a completed dare, or back to you on a refund.

Refunds are built in

Your contribution is refundable until a dare locks, and the escrow refunds automatically in the cases where a dare cannot complete:

• ▸The dare is never claimed, or the pot never reaches the floor in time.
• ▸The creator locks the dare but never submits proof within the performance window.
• ▸A dispute is upheld against the proof.

A watchdog on disputes

Disputes are reviewed by the platform, but the escrow does not trust the platform to always act. If a dispute is raised and not ruled within the arbiter window, the contract returns the funds to backers on its own. Disputed money can never be left frozen.

An inspectable contract

The escrow is an onchain contract deployed behind an upgradeable proxy, so anyone can read it and verify how funds move. The launch contracts are set to undergo an independent security audit before mainnet, and the fee rate is capped in the contract so it cannot be raised beyond a hard limit. Escrow that holds money should not ask for blind trust, so the contracts are built to be inspected. On this app the contract runs on Robinhood Chain testnet, where balances are test tokens with no real value.

You control your wallet

Your wallet is self-custody: you hold it, and every transaction is one you approve. The flip side is that keeping your login and recovery details safe is on you. Nobody at I Dare You can move your funds, and nobody can recover a wallet you lose access to.
